Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)
A sudden drop in platelets that causes easy bruising, tiny red spots on the skin, and bleeding. It is on the Table after measles-containing vaccines and usually resolves, so most claims involve either a severe course or lasting effects.
Signs to look for
- Unusual bruising or pinpoint red spots (petechiae)
- Nosebleeds, bleeding gums, blood in urine or stool
- A platelet count below 50,000 on a blood test
