Intussusception
A condition in which one part of the intestine slides into another, causing a blockage. It is a known, rare risk of rotavirus vaccines in infants and typically requires an emergency enema or surgery.
Signs to look for
- An infant with sudden, severe, intermittent crying and drawing up of the legs
- Vomiting, sometimes bile-stained
- Bloody, jelly-like stool
- A swollen or tender abdomen
